New Year Thanksgiving, Neighbors, and New Friends

The Urban Fresh Gardens Newsletter - January 2024 - Issue 6

We’re grateful to the Lord for allowing us to see 2024. Our hope for you is that you will experience the Lord Jesus in new and exciting ways this year.

Hanging with the Neighbors

Urban Fresh Gardens co-sponsored a Christmas breakfast last December. We got to hang out with our neighbors in Crownbrook on the eve of Christmas Eve. It was cold, but they showed up, squeezed under a tent, and ate breakfast with us. We had giveaways (shoes, heaters - those came in handy, an air purifier, socks, hair care products, etc.) graciously donated by Urban Alliance (https://urbanalliance.com/). We’d like to repeat the neighborliness once every quarter. We may skip winter, though, or have it indoors😁.

Awesome neighbors who braved the cold, including board member, Fanny Marone (far right).

New Year, New Friends

Black Bunny eating - his favorite thing to do - and keeping an eye on his new neighbors

Welcome ducks, a reddish-brown rooster, and hens to the Urban Fresh Gardens (UFG) family. Black Bunny (aka Houdini) isn’t new, but you haven’t seen him in a while. [That’s one tough rabbit that God made].

These ducks are always sticking together.

Greg was talking with a friend a few days ago about wanting to get more animals for UFG. While he was still in the meeting, Farmer Tony from Hodges’ Family Farm called saying he had ducks and chickens that he wanted to give away. Friends, that’s not luck. That’s the Lord. If you can, please plan a visit to Hodges’. It’s also a beautiful event space.

Podcast - A New Episode

Our guest on the podcast is Marshalee Loerch, a former missionary and friend. Initially, she wanted to be a school guidance counselor, but a 'chance' opportunity in college changed her mind about missions and evangelism. We'll talk about that experience, how determined she is to be unbothered by the world, and how she's navigating this stage of her adult life in a foreign country. This is Part 1 of a 2-part episode. Here’s the link: https://theurbanlp.alitu.com/1?order=newest and Marshalee's YouTube channel
