Doing Good
The Urban Fresh Gardens Newsletter - June 2024
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
Doing Good
Jesus is our Ultimate example of a perfect life. Like Him, we want to do good in our neighborhood. We hope you do too, no matter where you live.

At the Fair
Afro Duck and the Winged Ones - a perfect name for a band, don’t you think?
We had a busy day on April 19th at the Strive to Thrive Fair, an event sponsored by the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board (NRWIB). Youth who participated in a weeklong work orientation program at the Police Athletic League (PAL) were invited to explore summer employment and career opportunities by visiting the booths of local nonprofits and businesses that were there.

Our canning table
Urban Fresh had two booths for showcasing our services and an outdoor space for some of our animals. We demonstrated canning, growing mushrooms, and advertised our English classes. Attendees also got to meet our rabbits, ducks, and chickens. Kids cuddled and petted them, and they watched in awe as the feathered friends waddled, clucked, and tried to get away from the humans. Black Bunny (aka Houdini) decided he was too popular and burrowed his way under hay to escape the attention. Also, one of our ducklings got the name, Afro Duck, that day from an LTE participant who noticed the duck’s unusual ‘hair growth.
